PANGA GETS BIGGER

In last few years Pro Kabaddi has played a big role in promoting our very own sport. Thanks to PKL we re-remembered the names of our national kabaddi heroes and could keep an eye on the future of this game. PKL managed to divert people’s attention back towards Kabaddi. In the 4 seasons so far, we have witnessed many nail biting encounters and brilliant matches. To fulfil our daily dose of excitement and to give us some more kabaddi, Pro Kabaddi is coming back with brand new season.
On the 28th of July, the season 5 of PKL is starting. This season is promised to be bigger and better than earlier seasons. This year 4 new teams will be participating in the contest. Gujarat Fortunegiants, Tamil Thalaivas, Haryana Steelers and UP Yodhas are the new teams. These new teams are the reason we won’t be seeing the team combinations we know. The players were auctioned again and the old teams are shuffled. This will make it hard for players, as they need to escape their old team habits and tune-in with new team members. So this season is as good as 1st season, where teams struggled to work in harmony. Team that will reach to perfect co-ordination earliest, holds the best chance to win the title.
What really makes this season more challenging is the new format of the tournament. Unlike old seasons, this year teams will be divided into the 2 ZONES of 6 teams each. Every team will be fighting 3 times with the every other team of their zone. Moreover, the teams will face each team of other zone ones, in the ‘Inter-Zonal Challenge Week’. All this action will be taking place at league level. The top 3 teams in each zone will be participating in the ‘Super Playoffs’. The teams that top the tables in each zone will be the only one who holds the advantage at this stage. For the others, road to the final gets even more tougher. They will have to face at least 3 matches if they hope to play in the Finals on 28th October.
All this action won’t fit in the span of 1 month and our Kabaddi treat is extended to 3 months. Season 5 of PKL will hold no less than 138 matches in total. Countdown has started and the season premier is just a day away. With the match between Telugu Titans and Tamil Thalaivas the season will kick off. So, brace yourself for action packed 3 months as Panga gets Bigger.
