THE WIMBLEDON

Image
R ain has started falling in India and brown lifeless earth is showing the signs of life with green colour. The same transformation can be seen in Tennis world, as courts turned Green from Red. Under the scorching sun of British summer, the most high profile event in tennis is about to start on 3 rd of July. The only grand slam that is played on traditional grass court even today, the oldest tennis tournament, The Championships-THE WIMBLEDON. From presenting Silver flower basket to 1 st ever Ladies winner in 1884 to giving away 28.1 Million GBP of total price money, the tournament has come a long way. But there are things that are unchanged since the inception of tournament in 1877. Tradition, is the word that briefly describes the Wimbledon. From the precisely cut 8mm grass to Strawberries and cream, from full white outfits of players to uniforms to officials, from ball kids to “clapping only for very good point” crowd, from wooden net holders to green and violet merchandi...

THE MIXED SUNDAY

Image
Y esterday was jammed pack with sports and that too with India in action in 3 different sports. Badminton, Hockey and Cricket, Indian men were fighting for wins. As the day progressed Indian men gave all they could to make India proud; and succeeded too. On Sunday, somewhere we won, somewhere we could not. All in all this Sunday was full of mixed emotions. O ne of the most mouth watering treats in ICC events that we wait for, is the match between India and Pakistan. Of course we all know the match is a temptation that no one can control but watch, truly the #SabseBadaMoh . India is starting their title defence with match against Pakistan. From the history, we can say match is going to be exciting. The rivalry between the nations is clearly reflected in each game they play. And for every Indian losing to Pakistan (in cricket) is like a personal failure. We, as fans, don’t even think about winning the actual championship before this match, such is the spirit of the match. Indeed, the match is not played for the rewards or prizes but played for honour. From the facts that we know, India have played Pakistan thrice in Champions trophy, winning only once. Actually this is the only ICC event where Pakistan has positive head to head. And now we have a chance to equal the records. With this lethal team, India has ability to...
