THE ZIDANE TOUCH

The party is never over in world of sports. It was well past midnight in India and we were already celebrating for blues. But Real Madrid and Málaga were still fighting in finals of most important Spanish league, La Liga. They won the match 2-0 and championship as well. As they won the the title 33rd time, one of the main reasons of their winning streak is non other than ex Real Madrid star and ex French captain, Zinedine Zidane.

The performance of club has changed drastically since Zidane joined in as a manager in 2016. The club was in a crisis when Zidane came in but he really turned the tables around to bring them on top. Since he came to Real Madrid’s aid, they have won the FIFA club World Cup, UEFA Super Cup, UEFA Champions League and La Liga 2017. Zidane also holds the longest winning streak for Real Madrid in the history of club with 40 wins. It’s like Zidane playing Midas for the Madrid as they win everything they play. It was also first time in 6 years that Madrid beat arch Rivals FC Barcelona to dominate Spain. Zidane helped them for finishing as table toppers with 93 points and bring the trophy back after 5 long years.
These are the great results we see but there are so many things that made these results possible. Even though they had Christiano Ronaldo on their side along with other star players like Ramos, Bale, Benzema, James Rodriguez and so on, something was not working. As the new manager set to work, he did everything from training along with them to making strategies for matches to standing by injured players. Also, from keeping plan B ready to uniting all players and pushing them to their abilities is something working in club’s favour. The tuning of manager and players is working in harmony indeed. Maybe that’s the reason every player gave huge credit to Zidane after winning La Liga.
Players and managers come and go for football clubs, but very few leave a long lasting mark. There are many greats but what “ Zizou” has achieved in just one year is remarkable. He flourished as a player and now as a manger of a team. The Zidane touch is working magically and glorifying the performance of Real Madrid.
