THE DEFENDERS

We were divided during the month of IPL but now it’s time to reunite as a nation and erupt with the chants of INDIA……INDIA.. The ICC Champions Trophy is back with top 8 teams in the world ranking. In the tournament where only champions play, India has got one of the toughest challenge in any sport, defend the Championship. Indeed defending title has proven a very hard task in every sports, and as for the champions trophy the only team that managed to do it so far is Australia. So, let’s have a look at India’s chances of defending it with the road full of obstacles.
On the league stage, India will be facing the world no.1 ODI team South Africa. Apart from being no.1 in world ranking the side contains world no.1 batsman and bowler as well. The side of big hitters and awesome bowlers is lead by none other than Mr. 360°, AB de Villers. Then there is team Sri Lanka, from whom Indians have always faced a hard challenges when it comes to big tournaments. And last but not the least Pakistan, are also in same group, and we will be witnessing another chapter of their rivalry. After qualifying for finals India will be facing top 2 from Australia, New Zealand, England and Bangladesh.
Although the road ahead is difficult, Indian team is a perfect blend of experience, energy and class. The side contains very good batsmen, extremely good all rounders and immensely talented bowlers. With Yuvraj Singh back in squad and Kohli with his re-found momentum, India has a very good chance to defend the title. The two warm up matches are the proof that team is working in good harmony and poses even bigger challenge for other teams. The way they literally thrashed New Zealand and Bangladesh in warm up matches, we can say that all 15 are in form. While we are reading this, maybe Captain Kohli is struggling on deciding playing 11. If this is the scene in Indian camp, we can only imagine how it must be for others after witnessing India’s warm up (or we can say heat up).
Now as fans all we can do is keep our fingers and toes crossed, read this article and have faith in our heroes, until they emerge as champions. After all this is the tournament where heroes become Champions.
