THE HOME ADVANTAGE

O ne of the biggest advantages in any sport is support of a home crowd and Indian Squash team holds this rare advantage in championship of 2017. The 19th edition of Asian Individual Squash Championship is being held in Chennai, India. The Chennai crowd is no stranger to the game, as it is being held here for the 2nd time since 2010. The tournament is kicking off from today and final will be held on 30th April, Sunday.  India is yet to register the winner in Asian Championship in the history of tournament. Most closer India went to win the title was when, Misha Grewal ended up as runner up in edition of 1996. But this year India hold hopes to break the duck, in both sections, men and women. India's current best players will be fighting to clinch the winner's spot. In Men's section, among the 42 players from different Asian countries, India's Sourav Ghosal is seeded second. A nervous double fault and the tennis records were changed. “ La Decima ” was complete. The result of Monte Carlo Masters was nothing unexpected, in fact the result all tennis fans hoped for. The whole tennis world erupted in joy as history was created. With this one win Nadal became the ever first man in an open era to win a single tournament 10 times. With this one win he also completed 50 title haul on clay and 29 “Masters 1000” title. It was a moment of pure joy, as he lifted the very much known trophy high above his head. Nadal lost all 3 previous finals this year on hard court after fighting hard. But this was the 1 st final on clay and The KING of Clay raised above all the others to better his own records on his favourite surface. A s summer reaches it’s peak and then slowly moves to rain, it is time to change the court in tennis. It is time for 2 nd part of season and what happened on hard court is a past, because the clay season is just few hours away. Stretched through 2 months, it is a season of weekly tournaments all over the Europe. April the 16 th , marks the start of not just most beautifully located tournament, Monte Carlo, but also of clay season. Hard court season brought us back vintage rivalry between Federer and Nadal, gave us the glimpse of gen next and struggle of top players like Djokovic and Murray. It is now time to leave everything behind and start a fresh. As we head for the clay, more is depended on the style of playing and adaption of the surface. We have seen the top players like Djokovic, Murray and even Federer struggling on the clay throughout the years.
